PLACE SA – 2013
Explore what makes a great place.
Great places are often the result of the interplay of many diverse factors including people, the natural environment, built infrastructure, environment, ownership, culture, history, past experiences, design and many others.
Place SA has established as a platform to explore and share what makes a great place, to deepen our understand the ecology and conditions so that we create better places in the future.
Building from the success of the Place 2012 project, Place SA is a collaborative initiative of the Arts SA, the Australian Institute of Architects, the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, the Community Arts Network, and the Office of the Government Architect and Design, to inspire a season of discussion, debate, architecture, art, design and placemaking, held annually during October, throughoutSouth Australia.
Place SA is a platform to provoke deep exploration, conversation and discussion about our sense of place, through the collective activity of Local Councils, architects, artists, designers, placemakers, corporate and not-for profit organisations, businesses, property developers, community groups, universities and training institutions, schools, professional bodies, individuals and others.
We invite you to explore what makes a great place and participate in Place SA, by hosting an activity such as a presentation or discussion, perhaps a temporary installation in a public space (indoors or outdoors), registering an already planned aligned activity or hosting a presentation; to explore the ecology of place, from your unique individual or organisational perspective.
